Megaholz — Custom Web Development

Translating an award-winning agency design into a fully responsive website, product catalogue and custom PHP/MySQL content management system.

Building a digital platform for a premium interior specialist

Megaholz is a premium interior manufacturing and shopfitting company with decades of European craftsmanship, delivering complete interior solutions for retail, hospitality and workplace environments.

Working from an existing visual design created by an award-winning Hungarian design agency, I developed the website into a fully functional digital platform combining corporate content, references, an extensive product catalogue and a quote-request workflow.

Full-stack implementation from interface to content management

I was responsible for the front-end and back-end development of the platform, translating the supplied UI designs into production code and building the supporting data and content-management layer.

The front end was built on Bootstrap and extended with custom CSS for the bespoke layouts. On the back end, I developed a custom PHP/PDO administration interface connected to a MySQL database.

Recreating an asymmetric design within a structured grid

The defining technical challenge was the visual language itself. The layouts deliberately broke away from conventional, symmetrical web structures through offset content, overlapping elements, irregular alignments and large areas of negative space.

I needed to reproduce that character accurately while still working with Bootstrap's grid system. I combined the framework's responsive structure with custom CSS positioning and layout techniques, preserving the design intent without sacrificing maintainability.

Preserving the visual concept across every screen size

Responsiveness was a substantial part of the implementation. The asymmetric desktop compositions could not simply be scaled down; their relationships had to be reinterpreted for tablet and mobile while keeping the hierarchy and visual identity intact.

I built and fine-tuned the layouts across breakpoints, adapting positioning, spacing, image behaviour and content order so the experience remained coherent and fully usable on desktop, tablet and mobile.

The same system also had to support very different content types—from editorial company pages and project references to structured material and product listings—without losing the distinctive visual language of the original design.

Turning the company website into a functional product platform

Beyond the corporate website, the platform included an extensive searchable and filterable product catalogue with detailed product pages, specifications and related products.

Instead of a conventional checkout, users could collect products and request a tailored quotation for the selected items, matching Megaholz's project-based B2B sales process.

A custom administration layer built around the content that mattered

I developed a lightweight custom CMS in PHP using PDO, connected to a MySQL database. Rather than making every visual element editable, the administration interface focused on the content the team needed to maintain regularly.

This included product information and selected core website data, keeping content management straightforward while protecting the more complex presentation layer from unnecessary editing.

From static design to a complete, responsive web platform

The finished platform translated a highly distinctive agency design into a fully responsive, production-ready website while extending it with real product and business functionality.

It brought together the brand story, product catalogue, reference projects, quote-request experience and custom content management in one coherent system—combining precise front-end execution with a purpose-built PHP/MySQL back end.
