Aventurista — Cross-platform Experience

Connecting explorers, businesses, creators and organizations through a comprehensive cross-device platform for outdoor experiences.

Translating a broad outdoor ecosystem into one product

Aventurista is an outdoor platform designed to connect people exploring nature with outdoor businesses, content creators and public-sector organizations within a shared digital ecosystem.

I was responsible for translating the existing research and product concept into a complete multi-platform experience of more than 100 screens across mobile, tablet and desktop.

End-to-end product design across three platforms

Working independently and in close collaboration with stakeholders, I was responsible for the product’s information architecture, user flows and UX/UI design.

The research and initial product concept had already been established when I joined the project. The development team had not yet been formed, as the client wanted to define the complete product experience and screen designs before moving into implementation.

Designing for diverse users across a large product ecosystem

The project combined two dimensions of complexity: a broad ecosystem of user groups with very different needs, and an extensive product experience that needed to work seamlessly across mobile, tablet and desktop.

Alongside outdoor enthusiasts, the platform was designed for outdoor businesses, vloggers and public-sector organizations — bringing these different participants together within one shared ecosystem.

Building one coherent system across mobile, tablet and desktop

I structured the product around the needs and relationships of its different user groups, translating the existing concept into a clear information architecture and comprehensive user flows.

A defining aspect of the project was designing the mobile, tablet and desktop experiences in parallel. Rather than simply scaling the same layouts between breakpoints, I adapted content, functionality and interaction patterns to the context and available screen space of each platform.

Designing more than 100 screens across three platforms required a systematic approach to navigation, hierarchy, reusable interface patterns and responsive behaviour.

In 2019, designing this level of cross-device detail from the outset was still relatively uncommon. The project therefore provided an early opportunity to approach responsive design as a comprehensive multi-platform system rather than simply adapting desktop layouts to smaller screens.

A comprehensive blueprint for a cross-platform outdoor experience

The final design delivered a comprehensive blueprint for the Aventurista platform across mobile, tablet and desktop, bringing a complex ecosystem of user groups and more than 100 screens into a coherent cross-platform experience.

The project was particularly meaningful to me, bringing together product design with my long-standing connection to nature and the outdoors.

Creating digital products that encourage people to explore, engage with and appreciate the natural world closely aligns with where I want my work as a product designer to have a positive impact.
