Barion — Fintech Mobile Experience

Bringing payments, parking, invoices, wallet management and everyday services together in one intuitive mobile app.

Bringing everyday financial services into one mobile experience

Barion is a fintech platform providing digital payment solutions and a growing ecosystem of financial and everyday services.

I was responsible for the end-to-end UX/UI design of its mobile application, bringing services such as payments, parking, invoices, wallet management, marketplace and user account features into a unified mobile experience.

From enterprise platforms to fintech authentication and mobile

The mobile app was part of a long-term collaboration with the Barion ecosystem.

My work with the group began with the redesign of Sensenet's Content Services Platform, a complex enterprise product covering document management, collaboration, permissions and content management across devices.

I later redesigned the authentication and onboarding experience for Barion Smart Gateway, addressing a high drop-off rate during authentication. Following the redesign, successful authentications increased by more than 50%.

The success of these projects led to my continued collaboration with Barion on the mobile application.

Leading the end-to-end product design process

I independently led the design process from research and early UX concepts through information architecture, user flows, interaction design and final UI.

Throughout the process, I worked closely with the Barion team, incorporating their product knowledge and feedback into the design, while usability testing was conducted internally.

Unifying diverse services within one coherent product

The key challenge was bringing a diverse set of services — from payments and parking to invoices, wallet management, marketplace and user profiles — together within a single, coherent mobile product.

Each area had its own requirements and interaction patterns, while the overall experience needed to remain intuitive, predictable and consistent.

Balancing feature-specific needs with product-wide consistency

I began by researching relevant interaction patterns and defining the information architecture and core user flows across the different areas of the application.

Rather than forcing fundamentally different features into identical interaction models, I focused on balancing their individual requirements with the consistency of the overall product. This required thinking beyond individual screens and flows, considering how each feature fitted into the wider experience and how users would move between them.

Throughout the design process, I worked closely with Barion's stakeholders to align user experience with product requirements, while regular collaboration with the development team helped integrate technical considerations before handoff.

A unified mobile experience across a broad service ecosystem

The result was a unified mobile experience that brought a broad range of distinct services together within a coherent product structure and visual language.

The project required end-to-end ownership of a complex product design process — from research and information architecture to interaction design and detailed UI — balancing user needs, business requirements and technical constraints throughout.
